[slm] sister 1muslimgirl, sorry, I dont think I can be of much help since my cooking skills are confined to a maximum of 3 people!. Anyway, I am assuming that this eid dinner will be prepared by a few cooks, instead of just one poor soul? I am assuming that you will be cooking beef or lamb, so I suppose, curry would be the easiest to cook in a big pot! anyway, that was my 2 cents worth ;) Good luck! |

as salaamu alaykum, We had this *amazing* Eid Dinner planned here in Albany.. it was a joint effort with all the MSA's in the area. We had international food -- Turkish, Arab, Malaysian, Indian/Pakistani, etc with food catered from a few different local Muslim restaurants, and we had an AWESOME program planned.. we asked around the community and lined up some people to do poetry, skits, islamic rap/nasheed, etc. We also had a few brothers known for their freestyling/skit comedy skillz come up from out of town to perform as well. At the end of the night we planned this powerpoint slideshow with silly pics from all the different MSA's.. and we had one of the most outgoing and funny guys in the community be the emcee for the night to bring it all together. subhan'Allah, what happened with us was that the very day of the event, a *massive* snow storm came in, with something like 16 inches.. so we had to cancel the program. but.. I think you can do some things similar at your eid dinner.. are there any brothers with any singing talent in your community? (I think some of the MYNA Raps brothers live in your area) Is there anyone willing to read poetry, do a skit, etc? Since it's a masjid event, maybe you can have the weekend school kids do some kind of performance/song? also.. Muslim comedian Azhar Usman may be an option to look into.. I don't know how conservative your community is, but he is really funny :) hope this is helpful insha'Allah :) wasalaamu alaykum, 7 |
