| slm Has anyone here read Progressive Muslims: On Justice, Gender, and Pluralism by Omid Safi (Editor)? Would specifically like to know if I should recommend to non-Muslim friends (who are all into social justice) interested in learning more about Islam. |

| wlm, is that the same as the progressive muslims website?? i've read some of their articles.. some i really like and agree with.. especially the critical one's about muslims today about the problems we have.. ie women being treated inferiorly, problems with our organizatons etc..... but others i don't like because they go a step further and claim they are "progressive" by rejecting hadith and shariah. so although they are "politically active" and very eleoquent on those subjects i'd be wary of telling my friend to read all about them and learn about islam from them! |
