Abu Zair Ansari said that he heard the Prophet Muhammad say for him, "O Allah, make him handsome and attractive and preserve his handsomeness always" The narrator of this hadith said that Abu Zair was over a hundred years old, and that his face was without wrinkles. Abdul-Ala said that he was with Qatadah ibn Malhan in his village. When he died, a man passed through the last part of the house and he said, "I saw his reflection in Qatadah's face". Hayyan ibn Umair said that a woman passed by and that he saw her reflection on his face as he saw his own reflection in a mirror. Nabehga ibn Jaad said that he recited the following to the Prophet, "Our greatness and rank reached the sky; and we are expecting to appear even higher than that". Hearing this the Prophet asked, "O Abu Laila! Where do you intend to emerge and appear?" I said, "In Paradise". The the Prophet said, "Certainly, God willing!" Nabehga then spoke a short poetic account about managing hardship and being patient. Hearing this, the Prophet said "You have invented a new topic. May Allah not break your face!" Yaala said that he saw Nabegha when he was over a hundred years of age, and none of his teeth were missing. (This significance here is that 1400 years ago, teeth would dissapear much earlier in life, and for someone to reach 100 without loosing a single tooth, indeed was a blessing). One narration reports that whenever a tooth fell out, another would grow in its place, even in his old age. [Ref: The Lives of the Sahabah, Vol III, pp 729-730] May Allah the Almighty have mercy and grant us all youthfullness in our old age (and I mean this without having to use Ponds hand cream) , and make our widest provisions in our last days and our happiest moments when we meet Him. ameen |
