| [slm] Its about islamic studies so it'll be different and good but if it were about other academic studies then i would have shared a couple of stories (including ethnic discrimination for muslims by muslims, especially for pakis). Not generalizing but there were incidences! [slm] |

| [slm] the programme looks cool, but I think it would be cooler to study in Syria instead....sorry, I have the "grass is greener on the other side syndrome". ;) Anyway, sis Jannah, if you could make it, or any other sisters here, it'll be good! Btw, don't take to heart bro Nomi's(or his name now, Momma something's) comment...1 bad apple don't make the whole tree bad! and the university is full of international students anyway :D :-) |

| Many people are wary of going to the middle east at this time. This program was originally to be with University of Damascus but because of recent events and other things they couldn't set up the program there. I think traveling abroad and dedicating yourself to studying Arabic and Islam are the most important things, not necessarily the setting :) I wish i could go, but the timings aren't good. I regret 100x's not going to Malaysia when I had the chance two years ago. InshaAllah one day. |

| [slm] I heard about this through my university and am totally dead set on going. Seeing as I am doing absolutely nothing (which is planned by my lonesome) this coming year (other than writing a novel), I might as well go, right? wrong. sigh...drama drama drama. Wasalaam. |

Same happened to a friend when he got admission there but when it came to getting a job, he was rejected at many a places due to his nationality!! (They said it explicitly to his face!!) Wonder what has happened to our ummah. Not holding it against malaysian brothers as i met a super kewl brother and we talked for around half an hour infront of kabah in makkah, so its all good and ofcourse "[i]1 or even 5 bad apples don't make the whole tree bad[/i]" Peace ;-) |
