| [slm] Inshallah all is well with everyone, I was wondering if anyone can help me out on a presentation I have to do on the Fiqh of Differences. I have no idea how to approach the topic. If anyone has any suggestions that would help out alot. Jazakumullah Khairun |

| Salams, Are you referring to the principle of ikhtilaf? I think it depends how much you know of usul al fiqh and what depth you wish to go into - there are whole books on the subject after all. It also depends on what basis you wish to work from, for example you can pick up a copy of Al-Khilaf bayna al-Ulama Asbabuhu wa Mawqifuna minhu by Shaikh Muhammed al-Uthaymeen (an english translation of which is available and quite short - 50 pages?) or for a briefer look from a different perspective, you can see the article <a href="http://homepage.ntlworld.com/masud/ISLAM/misc/ikhtilaf.htm">here</a> which contains some references to scholars of days gone by. Most good usul al fiqh books should contain chapters on this as well. I would imagine a good start would be to expound on the idea of ijma and it's requirements, then move onto issues where there was not an ijma and illustrate this with examples.
