[slm] folks, quick question I have my little dua book and say I havent memorized a particular dua fully, is it bad to read it off from the book when making dua? Or should I just get over it and memorize it ? The answer is probably obvious :D salaam |

[slm] I have not come accross any hadith that prohibits a person from reading a du'a of a book, instead of memorising it by heart. Unlike solah (prayers), where there are prescribed acts involved (standing, prostrasting, ruku'), the time and prescribed verses during specific acts, du'a (supplications) are not so strict in the prescribed acts - no specific time, no specific direction towards ka'bah, no specific postures. Personally, to me, there are so many du'a - I am unable to memorize them all, so I do read the du'a from my favourite book! God knows best. :-) |

[slm] We can read DUAA from a book .The matter of memorizing is for the sake of making easy for the person and not a recommendation to give the DUAA more effect . So both work .We can even make DUAA from heart instead of lips and this is more perfect because this gives the person more confidence since no need to say the words of duaa in specified way or prounounce correct .all that is needed is the message you wanted to send to ALLAH. No matter the language or the way we say it For example BILLAL asked The prophet [saw] saying I hear you saying many things with your DUAA but I dont know how to say all these The prophet [saw] asked ..what do you say in your duaa BILAL ? HE answered I SAY ..ALLAHUM INY ASAALUK RIZAK WA AL JANNAH WA AUD B IK MIN SAKHATIK WA NAAR The prophet [saw] answered .WELL THIS IS ALL WE ROAM AROUND [wlm] |
