I've been here at Madinat Al-Muslimeen, or Jannah (website) for a year under many nicknames. I am sort of a lurker, I don't post as much. However, the last time I did was before Eid Al Fitr. I was supposedly to write a journal about eid on the day I chose ( Nov.28 ). The reason why I didn't post is because I didn't have any internet connection at all.

Anyways, lets get to the point. I love this board and all, but it seems that too many people here are "scholars." I just can't seem to find a person who is average as me. It's either too many people are faking it or I'm just too average or below it. I am born as a muslim, I didn't learn about Islam until I was curious. Too curious. Everytime I looked for the help, I get "superior" answers that just don't make sense from the board.

I don't mean to be offensive or anything of that sort. I just meant, be who you really are on the board. Post what you want to post, don't examine it and see if it's perfect. Sometimes it seems some people have to write with high vocabulary and no sense. I just don't understand if this board is becoming too fake. I will still lurk and look around, but I won't post again unless it's important.

Medo,  Welcome to the board and enjoy your stay here.  i would be on the low end.  I make up the low end so other people can be average so feel yourself blessed to be average.

I am not a muslim so I will not be able to be of good help there.  But if you need any help with either your volleyball skills, golf game, mtn bike riding, raising 2 boys, white water rafting, camping, places to see in the USA or local places to see in Lithuania then I might be of some assistance. Oh,  I also know a few things about driving a Zamboni (formerly a Zamboni driver for the Los Angeles Kings).   I write with low vocabulary and make no sense either.  And you do not have to post only when it is important, look at my posts, i doubt anyone ever thinks i have anything important to say yet the still let me stay here.

Assalam alaikum Brother Medo,

I probably have no place saying this because I’m a new member, I’m only 13, I am new to Islam, and don’t know everyone here, but I don’t think anyone claims to be a scholar.

I have read many of the messages from the past and I don’t understand some of them either. If the language is too complex for you why don’t you ask the poster (privately) to explain it to you in terms that you would understand? It not only gives you an opportunity to learn something new but to meet some of the many different people here. I don’t feel as if the members are being fake. Some people here are on much higher levels of iman than maybe you or I, or many others, are on. And there are many, what you call “average” people here. No one (I think) feels superior to you or I.

People post what they know. Maybe they learned it in a class, or they have studied for years. We shouldn’t turn away from their help, we should turn towards it, learn from it, and implement it in our lives. I admit that when I first lurked here I felt intimidated by some of the posts, but I ultimately asked my mom if I could register because I felt that the board would be a bigger blessing being involved. It gives me an opportunity to benefit from those more learned.

So relax and enjoy the board. Use this time to take what knowledge you can from others and allow us to benefit from you as well.

You sort of made me feel happy.. both of you. Thanks for your replies... actually it made me think in another way. As you were saying Stephanie, I think I should ask the person about what he/she was saying if I didn't understand it. Mike, I started to laugh a bit on your reply. Now that's average...

Thanks A Lot Both of you  :)

P.S. "Your post actually made sense"  :P

Ah great Mike, now you're gonna make me confess.   ;D

I did talk to my mom a little bit before I posted and some of that advice was hers, but it's still good advice and I hope that Brother Medo stays around.   :D

Hey Mike, goes to show that we can learn from our own children.  Good for you Stephanie.  I like average and low end as I consider myself as both.  Gives you the opportunity to learn more.  An open mind is what is really important.

You know what happened to that contest, it was called off, without getting "called" off, if u understand what i mean !!

And was it the second line of that attempt at poetry which made u feel that some on here try to sound like scholars? If not then i'll blame it all on bro humayoun  []

salam, re-ahlan,

Hmmm...read my troubled posts in the Direction of the Board thread. We've made progress I think/hope with some new changes. Hopefully this will help start the momentum to get the board back on the right direction. If you have any other suggestions/input let me know InshaAllah.

slm,

Welcome Stephanie and Medo! I'm 14 and I consider myself pretty average. I am interested in normal things and I DEFINETLY don't consider myself a scholar. Sometimes I do get confused about people's posts, but I look up any confusing vocabulary and anything else that I don't understand and I end up learning more. If I always stayed on the same level, I wouldn't be learning anything, would I? That's why sometimes I like confusing posts...I learn more.
I also think you should post whenever you have something to say. It's good to share your opinion and discuss things. I've learned more on this site than I have anywhere else. I'm also a born Muslim who learned out of curiosity. I love this site. It has helped me grow so much. This is the site that helped me decide to wear hijab!  :-) So I think you should stay and post more.... who knows what you'll learn!

I hope that post made sense!

Wasalaam,
