Is there reference for rulings on women and Quran?

Asalamo aleekom,

What is the ruling in the most common schools of Islam on women reading the Quran? Do you
have to cover your head? Do you have to have wudu? I've read both that a menstrating
woman may and another view that says cannot touch it.

I want the reference to what the information is. What are all the legislative views on
this, I would like to make an informed decision but am having a very difficult time
accessing such information or a knowledgable person.

Thanks.

i dont know the references and have also seen a lot of conflicting information, but I tend to skirt the issue, working with translated "qurans" with the arabic writing beside the englis writing, or reading on line, typeing in translitteration, or only typing the english which is not officialy "the" Quran, and avoiding reciting full verses. I dont know what the key rulings are but from there they branch out into all the side issues and I have no idea where to find that information, so I just avoid it,
Salaam,

wlm,

it's not really "conflicting information", but many legitimate scholarly opinions on this issue. and it gets very technical and fiqhy and the answers depend on a lot of pre-conditions and suppositions (ie can u recite a verse, can u touch a mushaf, can u touch a tafseer, what percentage is quran, is ur period abnormal, are u a regular reciter/memorizer, are u doing it to teach or learn etc etc etc!) so, since this is not a fiqh board and this is a very complex fiqh issue, please try to contact someone knowledgable and seek out the answer to whatever specific question.

it's better not to "avoid" the issue. find out what the rules are and go with it. most of the time it makes your life a lot easier.. and it is important for us to read the quran in real arabic.
