as salaamu alaykum,

does anyone know where I can get some nice wedding invitations?  I would really like to have some Arabic calligraphy or something 'Islamic' in the design of the card...

jazakum Allahu khayran :)

sr. Se7en,
if you still have time, and you know someone who is going overseas soon to an arab or pak/indo land, than maybe they can get them made for you there. They can make things over there that are by far more elegant than here, and its alot cheaper.

Yeah - i would advise getting them from overseas too. The designs are so much better. However, check that they've printed everything correctly, then check that they've printed everything correctly, and then check it one more time.

I've seen so many cards printed from back home which have a name spelt incorrectly, or have messed up some other detail.

In fact, i'd suggest that all clothes shopping is done from there. You'll easily save enough money from buying there to make up the cost of your plane ticket.

I would urge caution of going abroad to get your invitations as i have seen some with very poor spelling errors in them.

Although the designs are beautiful and the cards are relatively cheap, i think its safer to stick to local printing/publishing companies.

When my brother got married, we have a large number of cards printed at a local printing press, this allowed us to choose the designs, have the cards done exactly how we wanted, and most importantly allowed us to be present as the cards where printed which meant no unforseen errors were made.

Also depends on how many people you want to invite. If like most asians you are going to have 500+ than the costs are going to be huge if you decide to send out fancy invites, in which case your best bet is to go abroad, even if the spelling turns out wrong  ;-)
