[slm] I had to post this guys. It made me laugh, and the part about the melon got me thinking though...okay you're thinking what [i]is[/i] she talking about - read on... [color=black]"Big Mother fancied her older daughter, Young-mi, a great beauty. All the eligible young men in the village - she counted six - were secretly dying to marry her. But Big Mother was holding off all the marriage offers. For now. In fear of losing out on a better one. But she knew: even the sweetest melon has its day. Got to be careful not to hold onto it a little too long. A ripe melon bruises easily and then it stinks. She constantly fretted."[/color] 'House of the Winds', Mia Yun, 1998 |

[slm] I like the quote (from the book) that you put in your signature area too: Happiness is not something one grabs out of the air and rubs all over like honey. One has to strive for and work for it House of the Winds, Mia Yun 1998 Smile… that one gave me quite a smile here… It sounds like it would be an enjoyable book to read [wlm] |

[slm] It's a good book, about 1950s Korea and basically the ups and downs of a small family whose father/husband isn't really around. It's kind of like Amy Tan's novels in that it focuses on the women in the family and surrounding community. [wlm] |
