| [slm] my people...Yesterday I met up with some friends and went to have halal chinese in manhattan after work..i was like cool..i get to catch up on some times..et..et...not to mention have some chinese..b/c I hadnt had it in a while..so anyhows..we eat..and finish eating..we're gettng ready to walk out of the place and some whole bunch of muslim girls walk into the restaurant...my friend starts hugging this one and the other..(1. they know each other etc et)...anyhow..so I"m introduced to them...and hear the name of one of them..i'm like..she's from albany..and her name sound familiar...I inquire further..go to find out she's JANNAH! I feel weird at this point..i want ot introduce myself and be like 'i know you' but then again..i dont want to be like a total loser and be like' i know u from ur website and messages':) hehehe..anyhwow I walk up and was like ' I'm LALA'. she's like 'lala marcy'..hahahaha..i was 'rolling' inside... so there u go...I met Jannah..wowsers. big day in my world..so we sat back down and had tea with them! hehe cool world.. manhattan never seemed to small..and chinese never tasted so sweet. umm..there goes anonimity(not sure i spelled that right) :o alhamdulilah!! ;D salaams |

| lala marcy, LUCKY YOU! I always have the feeling that if I ever met Jannah, it would be a down-to-earth kind of experience. No pompousness, you know. Just an honest to God joy-kind-of meeting. And likewise with some other people here like Kathy, Azizah, Se7en, Bro. Hanif, Nomi, etc. But then, only those destined by Allah Subhanna Wa Taallah to meet will meet. Wasalaam. Halima |

| [slm] very small world, i was talking to my sister and she told me how she, her two daughters, one of my best friends, and one of her friends went to have chinese in manhattan and saw jannah and friends on their way out. I was thinking, i've heard this before. so looks like you had lunch with my sister :) dhikr83 your so mean :D umm ibby |

| wlm, i had a great time on my trip :) was with some great friends and i also met all sorts of awesome people... was all over nyc... went to the met museum for an islamic art tour (altho permanent exhibit is down for 4 years!!! :'( ) shopping at chinatown, jackson heights (desi stuff), brooklyn atlantic ave (muslim bookstores and stuff), ate at great restaurants like halal chinese, no pork halal chicken (a classic), shaheen's, prayed at 96th st mosque (go an hour b4 jumah they have THE most amazing recitor i've ever heard outside syria), masjid al farooq, masjid al taqwa, nyu msa center..i feel like we prayed all over ny so now i have that city as a witness for me one day inshallah ;) then in dc we stayed at an embassy, walked around georgetown shopping and went to the waterfront for ice cream, then this really interesting ritzy morrocan restaurant (they had pics of the owner with clinton, gore and the pope!!?) where we sat around on the floor on cushions eating from the same big plates of food. then we played this interesting new board game called 'true colors' and drank some tea. I also had some really good learning experiences.. like seeing a little old woman in chinatown collecting other people's leftover food from the garbage in plastic so she could eat it later... and having some judgemental muslimahs totally diss us...(good cause it totally reminded us how we might do this to other people unintentionally) and just feel so much love for brothers and sisters who really live the akhlaq of the deen with their generosity, kindness and hospitality all in all it was quite awesome alhamdulillah i did accidentally meet up with lala.. which was quite funny... ma#shallah a great girl.. hope to visit again soon so we can meet up :) and also met madinan extraordinaire Nur al-Layl again at the famous morrocan restaurant.. i always feel embarassed in meeting people... they're probably thinking 'jeez that's her?? how pathetic' ;D but the thing is i LOVE to meet the ppl from the board in real life.. so now it's back to the blah of regular life... dhikr just admit that u always wanted to be cool like me... tsk tsk ;) also guess who is now in posession of 5 gorgeous new saris :P finders keepers? what's that saying posession is 9/10ths of the law? ;) umm ibby wish u and ibby were there too!!! it was quite a nice surprise walking in and seeing familiar faces :D ps hah nomi... myob <-- a new idiom 4u :) |

| [slm] you know Jannah ze chill mistress *is* ze Kewlest on ze board n' *specially* in real life 8) it was fun:) I wish you stayed longerrrrr :( to show you the *real* sidda town..not jus' ritzy morrocan restaurant, and bougie (sp?) georgetown :P hey! i missed ze board game :( and the TEA >:( its all good tho:) you know you will be back...muahahahaha...and we will hang out Inshaallah :) hey you also met me hubby ;-) heehehee..for a minute :-X anywho, hope you are all rested up from the trip and excitement:) for any sisters visiting or in the general DC area, holla at me ;) [wlm] |
