There was once a very old man. Due to old age, his hearing and seeing became weaker. His hands shivered and legs became unstable. So he decided to go and live with his son and daughter in law. He reached their home and started living with them. They had a small son also. Every day, they would sit on the dining table and have food. Becoz of his old age, he could not hold the glass properly. They fell from his hands. The food fell on the ground and spread on the table. He even dropped the plates. One by one, utensils started to break. The couple got frustrated. They lost their patience. They held a long talk and finally decided over one plan: the next day, they ordered for a wooden BOWL to be made. For that day's lunch, they seated him on another table in the corner and served food in that wooden bowl. He sat quietly and ate. But he silently cried to Allah for being neglectad by his own son. The couple were finally relaxed. No more utensils broke, no more expenses becoz of the old man. Everything went fine. One day, they were returning from shopping, when they saw their son playing with some tools in the living room. Surprised, they asked their son, 'what are you doing, dear?". The little one innocently replied ' I am making a wooden bowl to feed you both when you grow old, just as you made for grandfather.' |
