| [slm] I would like to know how the fiqh council of north america operates. ISNA members or activists may know, and I would really appreciate any info. Specifically, I was wondering whether it is within its mandate to give rulings on specific issues brought to its attention by members of the general public. I am not up to date with things, but my impression was that the council has given rulings on moon citing issues, meat slaughter standards, and maybe on matters pertaining to political activism within the muslim communities. Do they tackle other issues pertaining to the fiqh of muslim minorities (i.e., special situations arising when muslims live in a secular non-muslim society such as in N. America)? Can I contact them with a specific query by mail for example? Take care Mona |
