Back to the Madina

[slm],
I had left the madina once in anger.  And the second time, not out of anger but because I was greatly troubled by my own terrible fault of talking too much.

The tongue is undoubtedly the number one culprit and really I wish I could learn how to hold it.  I thought it was best to remain silent.  I thought I was breaking the rules of the madina by talking about things I should not.  I didn't want to offend anybody and thought it was best to leave, at least for a while.

I was reading some stories of the Sahabah and there was one which touched me deeply.  It was an admonition given by a blind old man to a bunch of people engaging in a hot argument.  He said to them that the people who Allah holds in high esteem are those who fear Allah so much that it drives them to absolute silence even though they are not dumb and can speak most eloquently.

And I thought to myself that I no longer wanted to engage in hot arguments after that.

But now I wonder if silence is really the answer?  I don't know.

We would never have learned anything if our Nabi  [saw] was silent all the time!

So I now think I need to strike a balance.  Speak but only when necessary.  And keep the words to a minimum.

That is really so hard to do.  But I am going to try.  After all, we are to strive to do our best and our life is nothing but striving, striving, striving.....that never ends.  Will never end.

So here I am back to the madina, formerly known as Sr. amkamb.

Glad to be back actually.    :-)

How is everyone?   ;)

No worries there Sis.  Welcome back.  Your opinion matters and it's not anger, it's passion.  If we were all silent and bit our tongues, then Islam wouldn't spread.  It will however spread better if humbled.

:P :-*

Ma-assalama....
