Hi,yow salaam, e.body.This message of mine shows us that islam is a peaceful religion so we should follow it peacefully.I think the reason 4 the downfall of muslims in the present world is that they have 4gotten the rules and regulations of Islam.Like there r no such rules that women should not get educated .So we must leave all types of extremism and live it like holy prophet did.(Aamin)

I am so glad to see this post.
I am at times disturbed by some of what I read, not only here but in other places. And at times things make me wonder whose interpretation is right. People I come in contact with ask me about 911 and ask me about Islam and are so confused cause one person wants to kill for Islam or in the name of Islam and the next person tells them it is a religion of Peace.

In the Quran one verse talks about not killing innocents and another being good to people and another saying not to befriend Non Muslims so many times I'm at a loss for words and most likey due to my inexperience when people ask me about such things.

I tried to start a post a while back about Fundamentalist verses Fanatic and people got all offended although my idea and opinion of a fundamentalist I thougth was quite complimentary.

How does one think people can take a look at Islam when the media isn't being totallt honest and people are killing others in the name of Allah and it's all over TV?
I told one person ignorance promotes fear and fear promotes anger and anger promotes hatred.

Patience, understanding, education and non violence I would think would do best for proving who a Muslim is and what Islam is all about. Leading by example, living as the Prophet says and did. Not acting like the victims all the time and education, educating folks on who you really are.

I can't finish this now, will return later with a couple other thoughts I had.
Faisal, I totally agree with your post and hope it touches the hearts of others.

In all things about Islam I think we have to go back to the sources of Islam: The Quran and Hadith. And its extremely important to go to the scholars and learned Muslims. You gave a good example where if someone takes that verse out of context and reads 'Muslims shouldn't take non-Muslims as friends'!! what kind of religion is this. But you need to take it into context and why and how it was revealed and what the scholars say about it and see what all the rest of Islam says about this particular issue. And that verse isn't talking about friendship like you and I are friends or its usage today. The word used is 'awliya' protectors, allies etc. There's nothing wrong with being kind and having discussion and relationships with non-Muslims. Look to how the prophet {s) treated his Uncle who was by all accounts a non-believer until he died. He was always kind and kept good relations with him and with other non-Muslims.

I think alot of people have issues with certain things in Islam because they really don't understand it or have misconceptions over it. Or some "well meaning Muslims" have told them the wrong thing about it. I have alot of problems with what some Muslims say and do or claim as what 'islam really is', as u've probably seen. So who's right? So in the end..how do we know??

Ilm of the deen...knowledge of religion, knowledge of quran, knowledge of hadith, of what scholars have said and understood things, studying islamic sciences...principles of jurisprudence..how to get laws from texts. I mean there is literally a SCIENCE to this - science of etymology, science of grammar, science of language, science of deriving rules, that has 1400 years of scholarship of thousands of learned poeple behind it. Muslims today are extremely uneducated in these sciences. They do get things wrong. That's why we have such a need for knowledgable scholars.

I don't like the term extremism in islam cause in my opinion 'extremism islam' is really just a 'wrong interpretation of islam'.
