How Grateful are You?

This is a question we must ask ourselves:
"How grateful are we to God?"

In Sura Ar-Rahman we learn about Allah's countless favours upon us.  We cannot deny them.

We are disobedient but Allah still sends the rain.  He continues to provide us with our sustenance.  In fact, everything we have is given to us by God.  Nothing is ours.  Only your actions are ours.

So how grateful are we to our Rabb, the Lord of all the worlds?

The more grateful we are the more easily we will be able to follow God's commandments, the more easily we will be able to practice the deen, this beautiful religion of Islam.....the more easily we will be able to give up things we love for His sake!

Dearest brothers and sisters in Islam, it is my request to you to meditate upon Allah's favours and blessings upon us so that we might learn to be grateful.

The choices we make and all our actions are a direct reflection of how much gratitude there is in our heart for Allah's innumerable favours.

But about being grateful, it's true alot of times we're not. I complain all the time about all my problems and trials to Allah, yet when I think about it I really have everything. I saw this show today where they showed people who's lives changed completely in one moment of forgetfulness or neglect. One guy drank too much and hit another car, killed two people and left a third burned beyond recognition. She came on the show looking subhanallah completely burned and deformed but she said she forgave him. Then another man forgot his child in the car. There was so much going on in his family and work life the baby was asleep and he just drove straight to work. And the baby died after being in the car 3 hours. He just had so much going on he didn't realize. He said he couldn't forgive himself for his mistake.

I think now that everyone has tests and trials. We should be thankful of the one's we have perhaps when we look at the tests some others have. Alhamdulillah.

This is   why  ALLAH  says  he  doesn’t  need  our gratitude and  repayment

If  we  understand  what  he  does  for  us and  thank  him  for that  we  earn  the  outcome  for  ourselves  and  if  not we also  are  responsible  for  the    consequence  of  our delusion.

There are too many things I am grateful to Allah for and I would like to mention just some of them.

The first and foremost.....that He guided me to Islam.
That He gave me a mother and a father who looked after me when I was little and helpless.
Eyes to see with.  Ears to hear with.  Legs.  Hands.  Fingers.
I'm not blind!  Nor deaf nor dumb nor lame.
A righteous husband.  Two beautiful children.

Ah!  The list goes on.  Subhanallah!

one of the BIG things we should be grateful for is our health..the human body is such an amazing thing. i mean just think about breathing and circulation. its such a complex process. even if a little tiny thing goes wrong, its it stops working. ever thought about what would happen if ur heart stopped beating just for a few seconds? mashallah, there are so many sings of Allah's existence in this world.

surely:

Then which of the favours of your Lord will you deny? 55:13

(i just love this repeating verse from Surah Ar-Rahman)

SubhanAllah :) How true. It says in the Quran we should look at our own creation and the way our bodies work, if we do not believe in God.

Indeed, we should be grateful even when we are not in good health

I read somewhere that if the Sahabis were not undergoing some problem or the other, they would get worried that Allah (swt) is not happy with them, and is giving them everything in this world.

and how true it is about being able to breathe, or any of the functions that the body undertakes, with the tiny processes that go on withour our being aware.

How much would a blind man pay if he could get his eyesight?

How much would a deaf man pay if he could get his hearing?

How much would a lame man pay if he could be able to walk?

How much would a dumb man pay if he could get his ability to speak?

If it took a million dollars, and people had that kind of money I'm sure they would be willing to pay!

And look at us!  We have everything!  And we take everything for granted.  We don't even think that one day we might not enjoy such soundness of health.

There are thousands of people who are suffering from diseases too.  Cancer.  AIDS.
High blood pressure.  Leukemia (don't know correct spelling!).

Sis. nida, you probably know much about the ailments of the human body.  I think doctors have such an advantage because they can study the human body so closely and marvel at its creation and praise Allah.

I mean, you could wake up tomorrow and fall really sick.  And find that you got cancer or something.

You could get into an accident and lose your eyes, or hearing!  You could get so burned that you no longer have a pretty face.

These things do happen.  And if it hasn't happened to us, then shouldn't we thank God for it!?

There are some people who have no roof over their heads.  They don't have clothes or food to eat.

Ya Allah!  Help me to show gratitude and thankfulness!
Al hamdullilahir rabbil al ameen!
