| slm, I saw a picture of a needy child and it made my heartache. It also inspired me to write this poem. Bismillah Al Rahman Al Raheem: They treasure every bit of food and drink, Beyond the capacity that we can think. They search for any scraps that they can find, While we drive up to fast food restaurants completely blind, To the suffering that these kids go through, Listen up because this is true. Have you looked in the eyes of a needy child? With wonder hope, and an innocent smile? Their bones and ribs show right through their skin, Their body's are so fragile and thin. They don't know where their next meal is coming from, All they can do is sit and wait for Allah's help to come. These kids are struck with viruses, diseases, and infections, You can see it by looking at their discolored complexions. O Bani Adam, why must you waste your food? And detest when you don't like something, which is completely rude. If only these kids could get half of what you've got, To you, it might seem like nothing, but to them it's a lot. Everyday pounds being thrown to waste, And these poor kids don't even get a taste. Allah says be kind and helpful to the orphans and needy, But once people come across riches, they become greedy. They don't think to be kind or give charity, Finding compassionate people is becoming a rarity. So, I hope this made you think twice about being selfish or wasteful, Or being narcissistic, ungrateful, or distasteful. Remember all our brothers and sisters in your du'as worlwide, And if you have money to spare, please set it aside. I leave you with this hadith of the beloved Prophet to remind yourself: "None of you believes completely until he loves for his brother what he loves for himself." Remember that one who takes care of an orphan will enter Jannah with the Prophet (saw). Think about adopting an orphan overseas or giving charity. Wasalaam, Doha |

This ability to feel another's pain as if it were your own is a very, very precious thing. Sadly, most of us let go of it, as we grow older. I just want to say...hold on to it...inshallah many wonderful things are born from it... |

| [slm] when one feels the pain, one is able to do soemthing about it. to post an image, say the above one, [iimg]http://www.foodforthepoor.org/graphics/appeal/malnourished-baby.jpg[/iimg] If you go to Help, you will find a lot on how to enhance your post. Just make sure you type only one i instead of two that I have typed above. ie type: use single i in img instead of double ii and [/img] instead of [/iimg] I have deliberately typed wrongly so you are able to see what to type, otherwise you would get the image. |
