Just another sad story.

Among other things, is henna bad for hair? Can someone correct these people.I thought it
was good.

Actually, henna can be extremely drying depending on hair type.  And if you use henna, you shouldn't use any other process on your hair, like a permanent or a hair relaxer. And you'll probably need to pay extra attention to conditioning your hair.

I think  hena is very  good  for  hair except after  hena it only  is  not possible  to dye it ....that  is what  I am  told but this  makes  it not  bad  :)

Henna is wonderful for stopping your hair from falling and also in getting rid of dandruff. If you have dry hair, just add oil to the henna mixture. My sister has dry hair so we add olive oil to her henna mixture, while i have oily hair so i add vinegar....

if henna is bad, than what do they call all those chemicals that they put on their hair and faces?????

Hmm i'm at a loss slightly as to why the sad tone to this topic. But i'll discuss that later.

On the henna issue, i dont use henna, BUT i have found it to be bad on the hair of those that use it. My brother who is younger than me for some reason thought it would be good for his hair, but its made his hair fall out pretty quickly. My sister also used it and it made her hair very fine and flat. I wouldnt recomment it.

Anyway back to the makeup issue. I dont see the harm in women learning how to apply makeup as best they can to make them look their most beautiful. Theres no harm in beauty, as long as its not fluanted. If the woman wants to look her most beautiful for her husband than isnt this a good thing?

Now whilst i'm no fan of american culture, i have to admit that american women, when they do themselves up, with their make-up etc do look beautiful. A lot of muslim women however, when they apply makeup, do it ametuerish and it doesnt look very nice. so if these women can be taught how to apply makeup properly, than i personally think its a good thing.

but thats just my view. So dont throw your slippers at me  :-X

also, to add to the sister's post above..I personally think women owning beauty parlors as thier businesses is not a bad idea at all!! in pakistan there are beauty parlors allllllllllll overrrrrrr run by women for women...and if they want to earn their living out of it than they shld be able to..we haev to understand that these ppl need to survive..they are not all doctors and lawyers..and whatever tools they can learn to make a living shld be given to them...
and then we also have to keep in mind that these ppl who have been living in loose clothing and burqas for most part of thier lives and have certain degree of haya wont just throw it away..its a personal obligation to them too..im sure they are smart women who know what to take benefit from and what to avoid.
inshallah

as salaamu alaykum,
Rodriguez dismissed concerns that the cosmetics firms are using the school to create a market in Afghanistan for their products. "First of all, when people here are making $30 a month — how can they afford a $25 lipstick?" she said. "If they could afford it, that would be the best thing that could happen."
So teaching Afghani women a new version of "beauty" that happens to coincide with the purchasing of their cosmetics is just coincidental?   ::)

Henna...do not apply on hair without at least 4 tablespoons of olive oil (and water to become a paste). Leave it to sit for a little while, then whip an egg into it and then immediately put it into your hair....then wear a shower cap all day long while you do mega spring cleaning.

things to remember:

do not go out if its cold
shampoo well, do it twice, that smell can become nauseating
wear plastic gloves when applying, it can make your fingers orange.
mix the mehndi (yemeni + madina is a good combo)
eat a tylenol in advance, it might give you a headache.

HENNA ROX!

Oh and did I mention milk and saffron for spots on your face? works like a CHARM...immediate results.

Ever wondered why some people have really sparkly eyes?  No, it's not natural (lol), they splash their eyes with salt diluted in water.  Might sting a little bit, but think of them eyes!!!!

zits? wanna get rid of them fast? HONEY and LEMON.

Need a hand makeover? take a lemon, dip it in sugar, then scrub your hands with it.  It's therapeutic, and then you smell nice for days.

Drink water. Water.  Milk is gross, unless its chocolate, so make sure you keep a stash of chocolate ice cream to make a shake with.  It's gforu!

I have too many useless beauty tips.  I'm retiring from economics, and moving to Afghanistan.

Wasalaam.

Salam Alaykum JustOne,

Could you please post more details about:

1) Milk and Saffron
2) Honey and Lemon

How do you apply them?? Do you just make some sort of paste and put it on your face? And
how long do you keep it on for?

And do you have anymore skin tips???

And what about any tips to make your hair grow thicker and longer?

Sorry for all the questions, but just really interested. :) :D

Thank you! Jazakallah!

I hope I didn't scare you by using your name in the subject. :$

In another post you were talking about methods of natural healing. I was wondering if you

listed two, if you have more that would be great too!. :d

1) Milk and Saffron
2) Honey and Lemon

How do you apply them?? Do you just make some sort of paste and put it on your face? And
how long do you keep it on for?

And what about hair tips? :)  Any to make your hair healthier? Thicker, stronger, and
longer? :d

Sorry for all the questions! :):D

Thank you! Jazakallah!
