Am I just crazy to think in this way?

An hour from now there will be a number of people who are going to die.  Perfectly healthy, full of life and vigour, suffering from no diseases or illnesses.  They are going to have a taste of death.  They do not know they will die an hour from now.

Am I crazy to think in this way?

There are some children who will die tomorrow.  Some of them will drown.  Some will die of suffocation.  Some will be killed.  Some will die in car crash or accident.  Some will die of SIDS.  They are right now happy, gurgling little children.  So cute.  Such a source of joy to their mothers and fathers.  They will die tomorrow.  And their parents have no clue they are going to lose their precious beloved.

Am I crazy to think in this way?

There are some men who are going to die tomorrow.  Their wives will become widows.  Right now, these men are going to work, playing soccer perhaps or watching t.v.  Completely unaware that their life is going to come to an end tomorrow morning.

Am I crazy to think in this way?

There are some women who are going to die tomorrow.  Their children will become orphans.  They are right now busy with their household activities, chatting with friends on the phone perhaps, washing dishes or clothes.  They have absolutely no idea today is their last day.

Am I crazy to think in this way?

Am I crazy?!  I wonder if that man who will die tomorrow will be my husband.  That child, my child.......or that woman.......me.

Am I crazy to think in this way?

Ya Allah!  Help me to always keep you in my thoughts.  Help me to always remember you!  Help me to always keep the Hereafter in mind!

Ya Allah!  Help me to always think about death.  Help me to be patient and forgive me for my sins, faults and shortcomings!  I repent for all my sins!  Forgive me!  Please forgive me!  Have mercy on me!  Ya Allah!  There is no other God besides You!

Asshadu an la ilaha il Allah wa-ashadu anna Muhammaddar Rasul Allah!

Those people who were so full of life and vigour yesterday are today dead and gone.
They now lie in their graves and face the questioning.
They are full of regrets and want to come back to this life to make amends!
They now see the reality and now do they truly believe!
But what use?  Their books are closed forever.  They can do nothing.  Not even repent.
They can no longer earn rewards or do any good deeds.  Nor can they give in charity even half a date!
How they wish they could say "subhanallah!" or "alhamdullilah!".
How they wish they could say "astagfirallah!"

They wish they could offer at least two rakats of prayer.  They wish they had given up everything for the sake of Allah!

They now see the Fire and they scream for help.  But there is none who can help but Allah!

"Iyyaka na'budu wa iyyaka nasta'een!"

Woe to those people who therefore worshipped other gods!
Woe to those who associated partners with Allah!

For they will see Allah has no partners.  He is ONE.  UNIQUE.  And the only ONE who has power.

La Hawla wa la quwwata illa billah!!

[slm] no, sister, you are not crazy. It is those who live as if there will be no answering for their actions, who are the crazy ones.

However, you see the Sahaba like Abu Bakr Siddeeq (ra) and Umar Farooq (ra) went home from their sitting with the prophet [saw] and joked and played with their families, and thought they had become Munafiqeen, but the prophet [saw] consoled them and said if they stayed in the same state as when they were with him, angels would come and shake hands with them.

We do have to remember death, but not to let it take such a top place in our minds that we do not do any planning for the future.

The 2nd Caliph spent time thinking and working about the Ummah. That too was because a burden had been placed on his shoulders and he knew he would be questioned about it.

So, while being aware of our death, we cannot let it affect our actions adversely.

I mean I was so stupid :) At age 20, when I was told I would go blind, I believed it would happen and thought since I was going to die anyway, why have ambition. I spent the best part of my life without ambition. Giving up struggle because I thought this would be for the world.

Despite this Allah (swt) has still blessed me with everything in the world one can wish for.
