Assalam alaikum Evereyone :) My mom and I both have Windows XP Home Edition on our laptops but mine always has trouble loading. It gets to the screen where the green bar shows that it's loading and then it stops working completely. It just shows a blank screen. :( I have tried going into safe mode but nothing works. I don't know how to do a repair for Windows and I've tried looking on the Microsoft website but I am clueless when it comes to this stuff. Does anyone have any ideas on how I can get my computer up and running again? The only thing I can think of that might have happened to my computer was that my cousins were playing music cd's on it and then they shut it off with the cd still inside. But I don't think that will cause this, will it? Any help is greatly appreciated. :) Stephanie |

[slm] I replied just to make sure you know I read your thread..... even though I'm not sure what the problem is on your computer. I just restored mine and it is up and running again. For your problem.. I don't know if you can do the same. Hey at least I replied :P [wlm] ;-) |

[slm] BACK UP before doing anything. Better yet, if the laptop is on warranty, take it to the store and let them fix it. You should have received a bunch of CDs with the laptop in the shipping box. They are either restoration CDs (HP, Compaq) or straight installation CDs (Dell). If you have a restoration CD just pop it in and reboot. Follow the instructions. This will restore your system to the state that it was first shipped in (your very first boot up). If you have a Dell then you have a little bit of work at hand, but you are a smart kid and can pull it off. Using your mom's laptop, search on the internet for Dell laptop restoration. You should get something from the company's website or some hack must have done it and published on the web/blog. If your mom's laptop is the same model, chances double that you'd be able to dig up those CDs. |

Assalam alaikum :) My mom has an HP laptop and mine is from Gateway. I just backed up my information 3 days before this happened. I did have to do the restoration AGAIN. This has happened to me once before and I've only had my computer 3 months. My mom plans on taking it in this week. It has happened to her computer since she had it also. I think it happened 2 or 3 times within a year. When she talked to a representative from HP they told her that when you do the Windows updates from Microsoft it will cause this to happen to the computer. Has anyone else had this problem? Anyway mine is up and running again. Thanks for the advice. :) Stephanie |
