Hypnotherapy?

Assalamualaikum, A friend of mine who has a social anxiety and low self-esteem has been seeking            a Psychiatry  who also does hypnotherapy. I just wanted to know whether its haram or not. If anyone knows any info on that I would appreciate it very much.     JazakaAllah

[slm] this is such a cool topic... i dont know about the haraam/halaal stuff...but it straight works! i know someone who got it done, and i mean the whole thing drastically changed her PHYSICAL health and stuff for the better, alhamdulillah. it makes you think about mind over matter and stuff.... Chocolate, anyone? wasalaam. (P.S. I said "stuff" three times in this post)
