Fear and uncertainty have marred communal relations which have given rise to a climate perhaps not so tense since the Salman Rushdie controversy. Islam and the West; a journey of discovery is an epic lecture spanning over a 1,000 years of civilisational contact between Islam and the West. It seeks to restore balance in a time when we are told that we are witnessing a 'clash of civilisations'. Contrary to this, this lecture aims to explore how inter-civilisational discourse and innovation bore fruits from which we are benefiting today. It seeks to redress the idea that Islam is something distant and alien to the people in the West. This lecture will be of interest to anyone who wants to understand Islam and its cultural influences upon the West The Venue: The venue at which the event will be held is in Bradford City Centre: The Alhambra Theatre, Morley Street, Bradford, West Yorkshire, BD7 1AJ To Purchase a ticket: Tickets for this event have been subsidised. This has enabled us to bring down the cost of tickets to the £5 to £10 range. Tickets are priced £10 stalls area (ground floor), £7.50 dress circle (Balcony), and £5 Upper circle (top balcony). This event has been ticketed so to allow us to meet the costs of arranging this event. Admission to the event will be with a valid ticket only, which can be purchased through the box office Obtaining Tickets: It is envisaged that tickets for this event will soon sell out once they are on sale, so it is adviseable to purchase tickets as soon as you are able.
