Diago (my puter) is dying

Okay guys, I need serious help.  My computer is the third most important thing to me in my life.  It would have been #4, but I just lost my sunglasses, the second materialistic thing I ever bought with my own money.  #1 is my car, who I'm parting with in one week.  And #2 are my new shoes, Alhamdulillah, I'm going to be grateful for them, because everything else is WRONG with everything else.

So anyway, Diago (my computer) is on his death bed, and I don't know what to do with him.  Windows keep randomly popping up, and then programs start shutting off and on by themselves, it's kind of odd.  I got some virus thingy, and it detected 34 viruses on the computer, but then that was it.  It did nothing else.

I, being computer STUPID, need your help :)  Thanks.

Wasalaam.

Okay I just re-read this....no, I'm really not that egotistical and self-consumed ALL the time, and I sure hope I'm not so materialistic ALL the time, so please forgive the inherent arrogance.

First of all.. you named your computer Diago??... I think all ur problems started right there :P

Sounds like you got some weird stuff running.. Did you click on Clean or Immunize or whatever to get rid of your virus's? Some of those free virus programs only LOOK for virus's they don't clean them.. Also you can download ad-aware from lavasoft.com and run it to make sure nothing suspicious is running in the background..

Salam sis, :)

I'm not a real computer whizz either, but there are this things called spyware software.  They're programs that hide themselves in your Internet Temporary Files, and then disrupt your system (I think).

If that is what you have, you can download free software to do a sweep of your PC and remove them.

There's Spybot Search and Destroy which you can get from http://www.safer-networking.org/index.php?page=download

And also Lavasoft's AdAware is another good one that you can download from here:http://www.lavasoftusa.com/

If its a virus then you'll need a virus killer, I dont really know anything about those, although I hear Norton AntiVirus is a good one.

Man I think I know what I did...Diago had a torjan virus thingy, so I downloaded this AVG thingy, which isolated the files which were affected.  I accidentally clicked delete, which means that those files which I'm guessing were semi-important to his functioning, kind of...well dissappeared.  So then I tried to do the System Restore thingy, but the dang virus is still there, so it won't let me do anything.  So then I got the freebie version of Norton, and it said DANGER COMPUTER DYING or something to that effect anyway, and then it just kind of...well...crashed. It turns on, but it only stays on for a few minutes before it starts doing all sorts of weird things. I'm not sure what to do...I'm getting a boot of the whole Norton thingy (yeah, I'm sorry, I didn't pay the gazillion something dollars it costs), but I'm not sure if it will help Diago.

Moral of the story: Don't try to fix a computer if you're not a computer doctor.

this is how the lastest virus looks like: windows pop up on your screen and your computer shuts off.

if your computer runs window xp or nt, it won't let you delete files important for its function.  the mere fact that you can get windows running again after turning it on means that those files are still there.  you just need to get the virus removed.  go to bestbuy, future shop or business depot and get yourself norton anti virus or symantics.  it is about $40-50.

but for now, maybe the software won't work if you are unable to get the computer running for extended periods of time. take it to the doctor.  a pc doctor.

i hope diago feels better soon.

take care
