| Salamou Alaikoum sisters, Hi, how is everyone. I just found this message board today and joined. I have sort of a question, but I don't want to offend anyone, I'm sorry if I do tho.... I am reading stuff on masturbation in islam and in general around the world..............it seems as though everyone refers to boys or men doing it, they never mention girls when it comes to that issue. Why?? I don't think guys are the only ones who have done it before. I have spoken to a few females who have done it some point in there lives. It seems there is always shame towards the females more than the men. I realize that it is forbidden in Islam, I know that. What do you guys think about this? | Sister Modesty is one of the most important part of our deen. Although the exact nature of modesty and appropriate conduct might vary from muslim-culture to muslim-culture, some things should be kept universally discreet. People from different cultures and of different ages read messages here and it would be a disaster if they leave with more bad than good. Every forum has a culture and unless if you are comfortable with it, its generally a bad idea to contribute. You might want to take this question and similar queries to another board suitable for this purpose, "sound vision" is one good example. You might also want to put this question to online fatwa services as well. Its a good idea to hang around a bit to get a feel of things, there are a LOT more much nicer things to talk about on this message board. I am sure you'd like it here. |

| Since this board has both sisters and brothers on it interacting, it is best for the sake of our modesty and interaction that questions like these (ie on sexual, personal hygiene topics) be posed elsewhere. Also the idea of "sisters only" threads or "brothers only" should be avoided because there are no restrictions here on who reads what. These questions are good and fine.. They are necessary to know how to practice our deen correctly.. but this just isn't the right place, sorry. jazakumAllahu khairan |
