| Assalum Alaikum and Hi to all! I was shown this website by "azizah" out of mutual participation in another very interesting site, and have been "lurking" for a week or so, just to see whether I should register or not. About me. I'm a Canadian, a former Catholic, married, and have a 6 1/2 year old child in my life. I'm educated and experienced in both music and electronics, and in spite of my frequent visits to the valley of imperfection and the city of fault, I have always tried to seek the "face of God" (I love that phrase! So beautiful a description of what seeking faith is!). As a result I have struggled for more than 20 years about my faith in God. Thus, I'm a relatively new believer in the truth I've discovered in the Quran called Islam. 6 years ago I made the discovery, in defiance of the usual media slander and western cultural biases. My studies of the Quran have all been on my own, and entirely in English, so I'm not in any understanding of Arabic terms or phrases other than what might be printed in my Quran. I'll post sometimes, but being born a westerner of european heritage and a good measure of experience, I've never been immersed in the culture of the mid east or any of it's customs. The language is a complete mystery to me as well. I'm happy to talk and/or debate with anybody who cares to talk about just about any subject. Lately there have been so many things to talk about, haven't there? Being a westerner I naturally hold no preconceptions about gender restrictions, seeking only honesty and transparency during these days of lies. Just now I don't have anything to say except hello! | [slm] brother Welcome to the board and may Allah SWT make this board as a useful tool for you to increase your imaan and taqwa in Him, Amin. This board is a mini community and it's going-ons is a reflection of the bigger society out there in that we have our differences of opinions, our different cultural background etc. What we have here also are warm and sincere people who are united in the journey towards our final destination - our final abode with our Creator :) So, have a [] on us and we look forward to hearing more of you as you would be hearing more from us. Well at least some of us 8) PS I am not a "Westerner" but well I doubt I have preconceptions of gender restrictions as well as many others in here too. And may he guide you and us all to the straight path until the day of destiny. We are all of very different backgrounds, cultures, languages, colours and upbringings, but the Allmighty has been kind to all of us in guiding us (In Shaa Allah/God Willing) to his Deen and to meet and know each other on this precious earth, though this board. | Thank you. :) I have found the more time I spend among my ancestors in Europe, the time I spend among those I consider my brothers - the Innu and the Ojibwa living near the Arctic circle, and the Iroquois of my birthplace - as well as the people in the cities, the more I am drawn to the same conclusion: we always have been, remain and already ARE members, all brothers and sisters of the same large family, divided by nothing more than our minds and hearts, our exclusive and often grand ambitions and goals. What better goal and ambition can one have, though, in giving thanks to, in remembering and seeking to serve one's Creator? Thank you. |
