Bring your families to stand in solidarity with those grieving the loss of their children, their loved ones in Gaza Organized by Women Against Occupation www.nonprofitnet.ca/wao the National Council on Canada Arab Relations www.nccar.ca Association of Palestinian Arab Canadians Women in Black Al-Awda Canada CanPalNet-Ottawa and a number of other Ottawa-based organizations -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Palestinians marching in protest May 19th in the Rafah refugee camp were attacked by Israeli forces with helicopter-fired missiles, tank shells, and machine gun fire. Since Monday, May 17th at least 39 Palestinian civilians, many of them women and children, have been murdered by the Sharon government - with the backing of the Bush administration and with the silent complicity of world governments. Despite UN condemnation of the May 19th attacks on the civilians, the Israeli government on May 20th continued to expand their military offensive into Rafah. The killing continues as the world stands by watching. In the deliberate and systematic military policy of erasing entire neighborhoods and villages from existence by destroying large numbers of homes, killing in the process a great many and sending thousands of families into exile once again, the Israeli government is continuing the atrocities and massacres that began decades ago. There are today 5.5 million Palestinian refugees struggling for their right to return, while the West Bank and the Gaza Strip are being walled into collective prisons and turned into disjointed Apartheid-style Bantustans. It is a critical time for Canadians to stand against the occupation and for the protection of international human rights. Please don't stay silent |
