Yes Ma'am   :-)

Ok, in refer to this thread, a couple messages have been sent to me, they were
very nice and not negative, but I have much to learn so I have some questions.

What is sufi?

What is tariqa?

This is begining to feel confusing and unsettling as the differences in Christianity what with the Catholics, Mormons, Baptist and such  :(
But I am eagar and willing to learn.
So let me have it   :)

What suggestions do any of you suggest when looking at various studies and events to go to for learning and study?

Subhanallah, Allahu akbar!  Masha'allah, Sr. Azizah, I didn't know that you became Muslim.

May Allah make it easy for you.  You've got to tell us how you finally decided (that is if you're comfortable doing so).. (then again I haven't been on the board for a few months, maybe you already did, and I missed that  :(  )  Make Allah grant you blessings.

I am not knowledgable enough to answer those questions well enough for you, but I'm sure others can.

This is clarification on the matter of me becoming Muslim.
I decided a couple months back after 3 years of learning
that this is where I belonged and where my heart was.
A sister messaged me that she had been told I did not do it formally.
Here is what is:
I woke up one day and decided, I entered my zip code into www.Islamicfinder.org
and nothing came up in my area.
I messaged someone on the board to ask if I could say the Shadaha(sp) on the
radio talk they have through this web site.  After consulting with another they felt it was best not done on the radio but at an Islamic Center/Mosque.
There is not one near me.
I do not know how to pray.
I do not know the Arabic pronounciation.
With some languages being to tricky, an a sound an and e sound can make a huge difference in what I am saying so I don't even dare to try to pronounce anything I cannot hear and practice saying.
so I spoke it in English to myself and proceeded to dive in and learn more.
So I guess one can decide for themselves if I am Muslim or not.
If formal process makes it more valid or if it is what is in my heart that vaildates it.

I would of given anything to see the look on momma mods face though if I could of done it over the radio for her to hear  :)   :-)
as she has been waiting the longest for my decision I think???
She is 100% momma, gentle tugging without the force  ;D
So I have much to learn and far to go. I am starting with islamic studies and arabic classes as soon as I find a place to go.
There is a wonderful sister whom I am friends with about a 7 hour round trip from me willing to help me learn the prayers. Another sister about 6 hours round trip who has also offered.
I just need to take the time.
I hope this answers any questions anyone has.
So this is what it is all about.
