welcome to the club :)

none among us males has a clue to things like that.

you have come to the right board. Sisters should be able to guide you best on this, but if you are like me (and I am a fair representative of males), you will forget the advice and still be clueless on the next occassion of buying a gift.

[slm]....

Bet ya' she's getting you a wedding band...hehehe.  A diamond set...necklace, earrings, and bracelet and then help put it on...so I've heard.

Trip to romantic place for honeymoon....so I've heard.

Sorry...clueless Muslimah.  Not good at these things.  Ask jannah.

As for me....plain cheesecake will do it and a strawberry smoothie with lots of whip cream.....mmmmm.....cheescake and whip cream.....but that's me.

Ma-asalaamah.....

This is something I answered to someone else awhile back:

from my email about eid gifts this year and it sounds good to me:

Here is a site that masha'Allah has a self-suffiency attitude that I really like! There are artisans who would otherwise be unemployed or underemployed by giving us a chance to trade our money for their products. In turn the money goes to help the children with basic needs such as food, books, health stuff, etc.

You may also donate books!

personally I like the journal and pillo covers and shawl and shoes and carved mother of pearls brooches...so much i like actually. For you since it is for future spouse insha'Allah you might want the embroidered mural of wedding? I think it is important to remember our brothers and sisters even when we are celebrating, they are still living in shakles. Why spend a penny on American products.

Can't go ring with good jewelery.  Real gold is much better than the 14K stuff.  And include some diamonds.  Or how about a diamond or pearl encrusted watch?

You know I think jewellry is an excellent idea...because it's something she can keep forever.  A first gift...

My mom still has my father's first gift.  I think my parents were hecka poor back then, and he got her this gold pendant.  Very nice :)

Wasalaam.

I have an idea/suggestion for after you are married if you have a home or when you buy your first home.
Most women love flowers. I personally think buying them at a florist is to expensive and they die all to quickly so here is a wedding gift if you have your own home.

Build and make a rose bed (with several sweet smelling but different color bushes)and each year when they bloom, carefully watch for the first one and cut it and bring it in the house to her.
Each week go cut fresh roses for her. This is a gift that will last years and years. She will tell your children and grandchilfren about this  :-*
I think this is so cool.  :)

BTW if you are living in an apt when you get married you can always build a couple flower boxes to hang till you can make a rose bed.

im stealing this idea from a friend, but i thought it was totally adorable + the guy actually came up with it on his own!!! so its not too "girly" to do or anything:
he got her a sterling silver jewelry box, engraved with both their names on it, and he filled it with 439 index cards (number of days between their engagement and nikkah), each with one thing written on it that he liked about his to-be-wife. i dunno what her response was, but when he asked me what i thought, i was about to kiss him just for her sake lolz... how sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeet !!
