| AA The messenger of Allah (SAW) said : “The best among you are those who learn the Quran and teach it to others”. Alhamdolillah, we now have an opportunity to follow the first part of this saying, right in our own backyard. We are Inshallah planning to start Quran classes to cover Surah Al Fateha and the last para of the Quran, from Surah An Naba to Surah An Naas. All of us have memorized Surah Al Fateha, and most of us have memorized at least some surahs in the last para of the Quran. But is that the limit of our knowledge? Do we know what the words we utter mean? Do we realise the significance of what we are saying? Are we even sure that we are reciting the surahs correctly? We aim to present, Inshallah, a study of Surah Al Fateha and the last para. This will consist of tajweed, tarjama, and tafsir. Tajweed - this will be achieved by listening to the Quran from the great qaris of today and attempting to mimic them, while learning the very basic rules of tajweed. Tarjama - we will go thru each surah word by word, so that Inshallah you will be able to understand the words you recite. Tafsir - we will go thru the tafsir of each surah, using such works as Tafsir Ibn Katheer and Tahfeem Ul Quran by Maulana Mawdudi. We will try to understand the circumstances of revelation for each surah, and the lessons for our daily lives. The classes will use the latest in multimedia technology. This isn’t going to be a speaker just reading some boring stuff out of a book. The classes are open to everyone : men, women and children. We have ample seating.
