[slm] I came across this flash presentation on the net, it has a verse from the Quran about the creation of the heavens http://www.philosophiewelten.de/flash/space.swf , the translation seems to say that God created all things in the earth and then created the seven heavens. But I thought it was the other way around. I looked at three different translations and there's some differences between Yusuf Ali, Pickthal, and Shakir. So which one is right? 2.029 YUSUFALI: It is He Who hath created for you all things that are on earth; Moreover His design comprehended the heavens, for He gave order and perfection to the seven firmaments; and of all things He hath perfect knowledge. PICKTHAL: He it is Who created for you all that is in the earth. Then turned He to the heaven, and fashioned it as seven heavens. And He is knower of all things. SHAKIR: He it is Who created for you all that is in the earth, and He directed Himself to the heaven, so He made them complete seven heavens, and He knows all things. |

[slm] I came across a further translation of the same ayah...(from the Noble Translation): [i]He it is Who created for you all that is on earth. Then He Istawa (rose over) towards the heaven and made them seven heavens and He is the All-Knower of everything. [/i](2:29) It seems as though Allah swt did create the earth before the heavens ??? I thought it was the other way around too...subhanAllah. Clarifications pleez... [wlm] |

[slm] this website here seems to back the idea that the heavens were created first. http://www.answering-christianity.com/quran/frank_earth_heaven.htm but that still doesn't explain the ayah above, it's talking about another one. ??? |
