Assalaam Alaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuh.. Looking back, most of my poems are rather deppressing. I think it's time for some comic relief (well, sort of) and a story in poem format. :). So, read and enjoy.. A true story of an experience of mine.. Trapped… I’m in the kitchen, cooking some food. All is good so far, I’m in a good mood. Then I hear a knock at the door And I hear footsteps on the floor. I wasn’t wearing hijab so I hid in the storage room At the door was my dad’s friend, a newly-wed groom. It’s getting pretty hot, in that little space So I decide to clean out the room, there were some things needed to be replaced. I’m wondering when some one is going to come From all that standing, my feet are becoming numb. My dad keeps talking, and everyone else is out, I wanted to leave, but a scarf I am without. It seems he has forgotten, and the food is almost burned, I am feeling trapped, when will my mom return? Minutes feel like hours, and it’s getting kind of boring, And all my hollers, my father keeps ignoring. It feels like forever has gone by, when the guest finally leaves, My father calls my name, and then he cannot believe what he sees. He looks over to see me making music with a pan, And he reaches over, with a scarf in his hand. He was laughing at the sight, And then he asked why I didn’t turn on the light. Thanks dad, I say with a smile, But unfortunately, that took a while. The food was fine, but the moral of the story is to teach: If you're expecting guests, always make sure you have a spare hijab within reach! ;) Wasalaam Alaikum, Doha |
