Augur Falls, June 2004 : A pseudo-poem that doesn't rhyme by (me) Shining sun, green mountains, tall trees We missed the turn but no one minded Car doors slammed, grassy fields surrounded Bug spray me, I bug spray you Huddle in the yellow fields, sober up! our leader Is talking here you fools! Let's enter the cool dark woods single file O wondrous world, miniature creations Rushing streams, smooth rocks, majestic trees Butterflies came to greet me Come this way, come see our home they said running ahead Leaves of fall under our feet Above, sky and sun play hide and seek How can a tree grow out of a rock? Muslims from Cleveland visit here too?* The clearing opens, let's pray here SubhanAllah, SubhanAllah, SubhanAllah Were we blind before? Why didn't we see? We never heard before? We never knew all this could be? Sisters go ahead, we'll stay here Climb high, climb low, the trail just seems to go O we are tired now, let's some of us rest here Whoever wants can continue This path was wide once, following old footsteps Now we are few, the roots are out to trip us The shrubs bar us entry, the path… Where is the path? Up ahead, look! Somehow our leader found a place to pray On a rock in the rushing stream AllahuAkbar AllahuAkbar AllahuAkbar But, we are not sure how to reach there On we go, one or two at best This is difficult, should we have stayed with the rest? We see round every turn, the stream never seems to end Let's go around one more bend Far ahead, that might have been someone I want to stay here Yes, it is so easy to stay here But… I want to know, where does the stream go Does it end in a pool of stillness and delight? Does it twist and turn forever out of sight? I see perhaps those who set out earlier far up ahead, But the others, I have to leave them all behind, for I now realize this journey is not theirs, but mine. * On the trail we met a Muslim couple and their guide visiting the area from Cleveland! |

alsalamu alaykum wa rhmat Ullahi wa barakatuh:-) *sigh* subhan Allah...i miss the whole mountain scene alltogether. The city is soooooooooo not in dhikr of Allah ta'ala as much. And the fresh air.....we have *no* fresh air compared to the Adirondacks. I miss the simple life. You know the most amazing thing about Augur Falls is that when you get there, the noise is overwhelming, but then as you get used to the surroundings, it just becomes so beautiful and an awe-inspiring reminder of Allah ta'ala's strength. ps..cute poem jannah ;) |
