[slm] A brother came into the library and asked me if i had a book by a certain author. I did. He told me that every 100 years Allah swt sends down a scholor for each generation and we should learn all we can from this person. I had no idea what he was talking about. Do you? If this is a banned topic.. please delete this post...but IM me with the answer please. |

AA I think there's a hadith, something like "Allah will send a reviver of the religion every century". And Allah knows best. |

assalaamu alaikum Everyone will have to return the books written by Mike back to the library now. ;) Yes, there is a hadith to that effect that goes like this: "Surely Allah will raise up for the Muslims, at the head of every century, one who will revive their religion." [Abu Dawood] I was at a class a few years ago in which the teacher explained that the wording of the hadith allows for it to be a group of people, and not strictly one person. Regardless, people tend to apply this hadith to the leader of their own group or sect, so a quick search on the internet will likely reveal a list of revivers including kuffaar (e.g. the false prophet of the qadianis), shiites, and all other types of people. I would have thought that history was one of the best markers to determine who actually was a reviver of Islam in his generation and who wasn't. And Allh knows best. |

[slm] Such personalities are historically called 'mujaddid'. For a detailed reading on this topic, i sugest "Saviours of Islamc Spirit" by Syed Abul Hasan Ali Nadwi (may Allah bless him). Jaihoon |

wlm, ajnabia that is very unlikely, if something is meant to be it is meant to be. what does being blonde have to do with anything/ anyways, there are quite a few scholars and activists of dawah around in the world today, not to mention in the last 100 years. for this past century.. many have claimed the shah to be the "reviver"...others iqbal, others jinnah, others king faisal, others hasan al banna...so Allah knows best |
