[slm] I believe Sayyidah is Arabic for lady, woman. I've seen it used in front of the names of the mothers of the believers: Sayyidah Aisha, Sayyidah Zainab, etc. Incidentally, I used to know a Turkish girl named Seda (pronounced Say-duh) I know that in Armenian this word means Forest Voices. Also in Spanish, it means silk. Anyways, I always thought it was a pretty name. [wlm] :-) |

[slm] I thought Sayyidah was the female form of Sayyid, which means "master." |

Assalamu alaikum, shareislam, just want to point out one thing. The turkish name, Seda is pronounced as sey-da, without the h. Also, in Turkish it means voice.... Sayyidah, like the others, means lady or woman. Wassalam, Betul |
