44 reads and you don't have a reply :)

the girls will tell you about foundation, but i will give u a tip or two about glows and a healthy skin

first: most of these creams have a mineral oil base. That removes the natural oils from the skin, and pretty soon your skin will become dependent on these creams, and will wrinkle faster.

second: the solution is natural oils, but it is difficult to get odorless and colorless natural oils in the third world; maybe the West has them. The people who used to annoint themselves with oil had a fantastic skin, but with the advent of modern frowning on everything traditional, that has gone out of favor.

third: the best solution is a diet one. If you change your diet to soya beans, the natural oil in these beans will find its way (maybe after a few chemical changes within the body), and you will have a healthy glowing skin the rest of your life

fourth: after avery shower, take a little olive oil 2-4 drops they say but even 2-3 ml will be OK, and rub it over you entire body. The odor, if any, will not be perceptible.

[slm] more:

1. mineral oils and gels have their uses - medicinal, in skin cuts and cracks

2. beware of cheap products

3. many creams now contain pork fat. You can confirm by ringing up the customer services departments of these companies

4. eat vegetables and fruits, exercise well, stay happy and content, and your body and skin will reflect that glow :)

[slm]....

Sorry Sis.  I don't like foundation or skin lights.  The store make up ppl say I don't need any.  I've tried some anyway because they make your skin look flawless.  And who does not want to look flawless.  I found that foundation works better for me because they are less oily then skin lights hence the glowing effect (makes you look more oily and shiny.)

You can't wear both at the same time so you either choose foundation or skin light.  When you use skin light, don't put powder over it either, it ruins the effect.

Do read the ingredients and application instructions.  But since it's a sample, there probably isn't any room for those.  But still check anyways because some of them do have pig stuff.

MA-assalaamah....

What brand?  It sounds like something specific to a particular brand.

I just think that you should buy a good foundation and press/loose powder...the other stuff can be cheap.

The only tip I have for the base make-up is that if you have fair skin, opt for something with a pink tint.  Otherwise, if you are darker skinned, go for a yellow-ish base.  The pink stuff clashes and it just totally ruins everything.  Personally, I like my Clinique foundation a lot.  I don't use it often, because foundation clogs pores, y'know?

And along with the brother's tips, just drink tons of water AND if you have spots on your face...saffron and milk!!!  (really guys! cant stress this enough...it works miracles, Alhamdulillah).

Good luck :)

Wasalaam.

i agree with br. timbuktu, i know sisters who have never used make-up (ok, once or twice maybe; such as their own wedding or such) and mashAllah they are in their 50's and look 10-15 years younger....don't add anything to ur face, ur natural beauty i am sure is more than enough. if so inclined to use something, i again aagre with br. timbuktu, use natural oils and ingredients, it is closer to ur bodies oil, adn therefore won't be forgien to ur body....

wlm,

oh about makeup advice... the best thing to do is go to those makeup counters in the big dept stores like jcpenney or macys and ask them to do a consultation makeover.. (make sure they don't say something like u have to buy our products etc, if they do just walk away) usually they do free makeovers and you can see how their products work and they'll teach you how to use it and stuff.. this is a pretty pricey method tho if u actually buy

the other thing to do is go to a place like sephora or even wal-mart and they have everything and you can just try out the different testers and stuff and see what stuff you like

and i actually am missing half of it (fruits n veg) and yes sister Trustworthy i went back and read the label it actually says foundation on it  :-* dont i feel stupid.. ;D
yeah JO it actually is..by Revlon and that is what i currently do..well i dont use foundation i use like any day cream and then loose press powder to cover the shine-ness of it..
Its just so much easier when u dont have to put makeup on..seriously..but with our glittery desi outfits..we kinda look weird without adding some color to our faces too...and for that u need a base n all that good stuff...
hmmm Jannah good idea..i might as well try that out cos i can never find the right foundation for myself..and if i do it usualy stays on the dresser for months and i end up throwing it away cos i almost never use it..
cool, thanks for all the replies ppl  :)
sis tree..its just foundation with a "difference"  ;)

I was wondering the same thing as sis Iman. What exactly do u do to milk and safroon because I have many spots on my face and I've never been able to get rid of them. If anybody else knows what to do for spots please add your suggestions.

This aunt of mine who is into natural treatments told me that saffron is good for equalizing your complexion and making spots less visible...Anyway, I think it works, it has for me...

So saffron and milk...just make a little bit and store it in a little cup, and use cotton to apply it.  You can also try it with olive oil and lemon (it smells better that way, and will probably store longer)...

Good luck, inshaAllah :)

salam :)

hehe, as i just bought a bunch of new makeup for all the weddings this summer, i feel compelled to represent for MAC! i'm really enjoying my makeup- i got a foundation stick that goes really well w/ my skin tone. the young woman at the counter tried a bunch of things on me and was really nice. i also ended up getting concealer and wowzers :o does that stuff work if applied correctly!

i also learned that tools like makeup brushes are *essential* when putting on makeup- it makes a big difference. i actually used a lip brush for the concealer and it works really well! i also got some dark dark eyeshadow that i actually use as an eyeliner when applied w/ a slant edged eye brush. i still haven't gotten the hang of the blush brush, so i just do the old fashioned way and use a little lipstick on the cheekbones and lightly rub it in w/ my finger tips  :-*

I heard something about lemon juice on the spots, but that seems kind of harsh? You could ask your doctor to prescribe a skin lightening cream. These creams inhibit the melanin in skin and you dot that on any dark spots. It works I think temporarily. They also sell stuff like this over the counter but dunno what products, so ask at makeup counters. Also, I heard sunscreen or makeup with sunscreen is good too.

Hope that helps ;)
