| assalaamu alaikum The marking system on completion of a Bachelor's degree is as follows: First class (1:1) Upper-second (2:1) Lower-second (2:2) Pass (3) And there must be something for a fail too. |

| Yeah its just as MIT said except for the last one: Theres 1st, 2:1, 2:2, 3rd and then pass, and then fail, and then escorted off the university campus :P [wlm] |

| [slm] Sorry, sis I have no idea what 3.9 GPA means. I'm guessing its your marking system in school (Grade Point Average?), but I dont really know how much 3.9 is. Maybe it would be easier to think in terms of A, B, C grade. A first is an "A" grade, the best grade, top marks, and very few are given out by universities. There was only one I think on my course in 3 years! :o [wlm] |

| [slm] american grades are on a 4 point system with anything over and including 3.7 being in the A range. |

| [slm] 4.0 is the highest grade you can get, it's all straight A's. It seems like first class is the british equivalent. shukran everyone for your help. |
