| As-salaam alaikum, OK....i have this problem- it may seem funny and silly, but I NEED HELP BADLY. The other day, I was cleaning meat(RAW meat) and it was the first time in my life that I ever did. I was sooo hesistant, apprehensive, and nauseated when i was cleaning it. Now, the problem is that I have stopped eating meat. Whenever i smell meat, a hint of nausea overcomes me. I know we, as Muslims should be thankful to Allah and eat everything he has provided for us. What should I doooo??? I don't want to be a vegeterian for the rest of my life. Any sisters had this experience? care to give advice?? jazakallah khair. p.s- any psychologists on this board? I would like to talk please.i have another problem with birds!! :( :( :( |

| [slm] Grr...I feel you...I hate cleaning meat too. Especially chicken. Man, sometimes, I really start almost gagging. Anyway, last year, I bought these disposable plastic gloves (the kinds butchers use), to help me with that problem. And I was so OCD about it, that I would scrub the whole kitchen afterwards. Even while writing this, I can visualize raw chicken and it's making me squirm. Maybe you should try the plastic gloves? Wasalaam. |

| [slm] I guess some people are just born queezy (spelling?) and others are not. I've never had any problems as far as meat is considered. I remember once seeing a Bull get slaughtered, and immediately after that eating its liver (Cooked of course ::)). All the cases i've heard about converted meat eaters are women. mebbe its something to do with... (nevermind I'll stay outta trouble). Maybe if you leave meat alone after a couple of years you mighp get cured. Then gradually get exposed to meat. The shock was probably due to coming unexpectedly right in contact with it. | [slm] If your not comfortable cleaning it, then don't. Lately I have been doing barbecues, and I just get boneless chicken breast, salmon, and ground beef. I marinade each of the meats with a marinade and let it set for a few hours and barbecue. And that's it, I don't have to clean the meats. But if you would feel even quesy about something like that, then don't force yourself to clean it. You can always purchase prepared dishes at your favorite restaurant. :) |
