[slm] The weather is getting hotter and hotter here in sunny socal and here are some easy-to-prepare, less-mess recipes to keep the heat off, a bit. equipment: blender, in good working order. quantity: One blender jug. servings: Depends :) notes: no need to measure precisely. serve immediately or the taste deteriorates. thickness and sweetness is medium, tweak milk/sugar to get the desired consistency/taste. coffee drink: ------------- Why waste 3 bucks a pop at starbucks when you can have better at home. Half a tray of ice cubes (1/4 of the jug). 2 teaspoon instant coffee heated/microwaved in half a cup of water. 3-4 tablespoons mocha (or any other coffee creamer). 6 heaped teaspoons of sugar. Dump them all in the blender. Add milk upto 3/4 of the jug (leave 1/4 for the milk froth). Blend and serve immediately. Top off with cream/cocoa if at hand. Strawberry shake: ----------------- Wash and remove the leaves, and split about a cupful of strawberries. Half a tray of ice cubes (about 1/4 of the jug). 6 heaped teaspoons of sugar. Dump all in the blender. Add milk upto 3/4 of the jug (leave 1/4 for the milk froth). Blend and serve immediately. sweet lassi (yogurt drink): --------------------------- Half kg (about 1 lb) of yogurt (or half the amount in a regular yogurt container). Half a tray of ice cubes (about 1/4 of the jug). 6 heaped teaspoons of sugar. Dump all in the blender. Add milk upto 3/4 of the jug (leave 1/4 for the milk froth). Blend and serve immediately. Note: Add salt instead of sugar and fresh mint to get lebni (namkeen lassi). Mango Lassi: ------------ You'd need mango pulp, canned or make your own. Add pulp to taste to the sweet-lassi recipe. Blend and serve. |
