| [slm] Is dawah only for NON-muslims? There are millions of muslims who do not even know how to recite the kalimah properly, what to talk about the intricacies and subtleties of truth with them. They are present in the remote areas of India, Africa, Pakistan or some scattered in the central regions of Asia, and a few sprinkled among the south americans, and many of them existent among normal Muslim communities unaware of islamic teachings, both in muslim and non muslim lands. My point is who is going to take care of such people who do not know how to read and write, what to talk about giving them pamphelets and internet material to ponder over. Surely mechanisms do exist and have turned up very effective for those who appreciate the value of Islam, and are educated enough to bear the pain of scrolling through materials and discussion with contemporaries. But these mechanism fail and do not work for those majoriity of common, uneducated people devoid of appreciation of VALUE for DEEN. How to create the value of deen in the heart of those who do not have even the speck of that essence, who do not come to study circles, who do not come to mosques, who do not participate in activities among muslim communities, who are uneducated and are too busy earning their bread and butter than finding some time and enough money to ever think about islam. These people form majority. Who is responsible for them. Should we wait for their generations to become educated enough to listen and understand our "Educated" dawah, meanwhile letting many of them die without ever reciting proper kalimah. The Prophet Muhammd SAW 's dawah was for every one, irrelevant of class, language, rank and education. He roamed the streets of Makkah with a desire to instill that value of Allah in the hearts of listeners. He did not wait for them to come to him. He used to go them himself, at nights and in days, in storms and in sheer heat. The paradigm needs to change. Those who have the value of deen in their hearts, or know about Islam, must come down from their high pedestals of comfort and must reach the common, uneducated and poor in following the sunnah of Muhammad SAW. With the worry that Prophet SAW had for the welfare of his companinons RAA, with the "Hareesun Alaikum" attitude as mentioned in Quran about Muhammad SAW, and with the Hikmat and Baseerat as demonstrated in the Seerat of Muhammad SAW, we must make effort to reach our brothers and sisters in islam, and remind them about Allah, HIS messenger SAW, Maut, Akhirat. We become very active,demonstrative, and zealous when talking with non-muslims. Where do the kindness` , zeal and worry for islamic deterioration go when we find tons of Muslims around us failing in their very basics? Dawah is simple, not complicated. Its easy, not difficult. Every one can do it. So in our domain of effort for dawah, we must give priority to fellow brethrens. If the preachers, scholars and zealots of today divert their attention to the upbringing of Muslims alone for some time, for sure, the revival of islam within Muslim would take place so much so that it woudl beome irresistable for the non-mulims, and they would embrace islam in groups.. Then , we can truly say like sahabahs when talking to non-muslims, "Kunu Mislana", "Be like us". And this would be enough! |

| [slm]... That is so true, but lots of Muslims come to my community for their da'wah to us. It's great. We have a few borthers here now as we speak. Then we have forums where we learn from each other like this one. So I guess your question is really towards those Muslims who really does not care about their deen or the hereafter and they are just Muslims by name. Trying to get these people to listen is more difficult then trying to convert non-Muslims in my opinion because they know the religion, they just don't really care about it. Some don't know their religion and they still don't care. These people, I'll never understand cause they know the punishment is worse then non-believers or do they? Allahu Alim and may Allah (SWT) have mercy on us all, ameen. Ma-assalaamah |
