I teach kids sunday school and we decided that the class needed to be more fun so we want to do a skit on the topic we're learning and the one that i'm stuck on is Hijab:-). These kids are 10-12 and i need help finding a scenario which matches their understanding. If anyone has suggestions and can help me out please post them here.
Jazakallah

How about having a couple of typical adolescent boys pass an uncovered girl in a corridor, and wolf whistle, etc her, and then pass a covered girl, and not even notice her?

I thought about what you said, humble muslim but some of these kids are immature and i don't want to put anything in that they would laugh at or say ewww to. But thanks anyway
Does anyone else have any ideas?

But wolf whistles and ewws are part of the real world!

So is the life of a hijabi who gets her scarf tugged on  on the playground.

So is the life of the Muslim non hijabys who make it look like the scarfer is ole fashioned.

Real life is the poor girl who is uncomfortable and is trying all differrent styles of hijab.

Another suggestion is take DW Ali's song about Hijab and rewrite it in skit form.

Salamu alaikkum,
How about a non Hijabi sister being too scared to be herself, eat right, too self conscious, too insecure inside as she is too concerned about how she looks and what others think of her, whereas our Hijabi sister is free at heart, has self esteem because she is covering herself for the sake of Allah. May be it is possible to bring out the security of our hijabi sister in contrast to the insecurity of hijab less sister.

You can somehow demonstrate the struggles that a new-hijabi faces(stares from people, different reactions from friends/classmates/teachers). And then you can show how she gradually overcomes those obstacles. And she discovers all the wonderful advantages/benifits of hijab. (treated with respect, no guys "checking her out", etc):-)
Just a thought. Hope that helps.

I took all the ideas and made them into one.The skit starts out with two hijab girls who just met each other, one asks the other where she got her hijab from and then the other one tells her how there's a story behind her hijab. She continues on about how she started wearing hijab a year ago and the struggles of hijab, how she got the hijab she is wearing as a present etc.
Jazakallah for all of those who put in their ideas. I just has writers block for a while. I'm over it now. Jazakallah again!

Sis Kathy, i think that compared to you as a writer, my skit wouldn't be half as good and if i do put it up, i'm not sure how it will benefit you since i'm sure you would be a lot more creative with writing it. I made the skit very straightforward because young girls were acting it out and the audience ranged from ages 5-10.
I think if you put ur writing skills and my final idea together, you would make a much better skit.

How delightful of you to say and as the hadith goes... if only I was as good as you think...

Truely I have poor writing skills. Everything I write is based on someone elses words!

I am looking forward to your take, attitude, & style as you are much younger than I. Please reconsider and post it. I am going to buy a girl puppet, insha Allah, soon to go with the boy puppet Abdullah, Insha Allah... just got some dawah money for this purpose.

So please post the script!
