[slm] Do you really love your fellow man? Or to rephrase. How many of you truly wish the same happiness for your fellow man/woman as you do for yourself? Are you truly happy when someone achieves success in say something you yourself have failed in? ??? I know sometimes I can be a 'bitter'. I think I need to strengthen that aspect of my personality. Just trying to stir up some conversation :P So any takers? wasalaam |

As salamu alaykum Sis, Do I have any of the answers? No :P, but here is a good book that I would recommend about this topic: Love and Hate for the Sake of Allah (swt) by Shaykh Saleem al-Hilaalee. [wlm] Marcie |

i think it depends, but jealousy is very natural for human behavior. For an example, i was golfing a couple of weeks ago with a friend and he was beating me pretty good. I actually was very happy for him and was kinda rooting him on because he has not beaten for a very long time and I was glad to see him play well. My other friend was losing to me and since we are more competitive with each other I do not think I would have been rooting him on (in fact I know i would not). Myabe the one friend that does not beat me very often is not a percieved threat? ps it was fortunate (or unfortunate depending on your perspective) that my one friend fell apart on the last few holes and I beat both of them. So I had the good feeling of rooting for the underdog and still winning. ;) |
