| [slm] :D Doctor has close shave in theatre By Kevin McCallum Athens: Rule number one when visiting a foreign country. If you can't speak the language, stay away from places where there are sharp knives, large amounts of drugs and people not only too happy to use them on you, but so expert at doing so that they get paid for the privilege. One of the team doctors of the Cameroon Olympic squad, the winners of the gold medal for football in Sydney, decided to pay a courtesy call on one of the polyclinics in Athens yesterday. He walked in through the front door full of beans and in good health, excited about the advice he hoped to garner from his Greek colleagues to help one of his athletes, and left after having been laid on an operating table and asked how he was feeling. A comedy of errors ensued after the doctor, whose name is not known, walked into the polyclinic and started rattling off in French to the people in reception. The reception staff could not speak French and replied to him in Greek and then English, and then decided that this poor man was obviously suffering from some horrid affliction and could not tell them what was wrong with him. They ushered the protesting doctor to a room, laid him down on an examining table and rushed in their machines. Before they could bring in the machine that probes those orifices that go "pong", the Cameroonian rose from the dead and escaped before a strict adherence to the Hippocratic oath caused him any undue pain.
