[slm] I like Barr's suggestion to sell dates before Ramadan as a fund raiser for library books. I am writing up a proposal to the exec committee. What kind of dates are your favorite? Do you know a good place to order from and what price per lb is reasonable to purchase them and what price per lb to sell? |

[slm] last ramadan I ordered dates online..weird but I figured i'd try them..they were so tasty, moist and filling... I ordered them from islamicity.com for 50lbs I think I paid something in the range 60-80 dollars (but with my mind these days I dont really remember the price). I tried checking the website but seems they dont have that stuff up right now. Oh, they were the medjool fancy dates I believe..they were large! yesterday, I went to this store by work that sells dried fruits, grape leaves etc etc and bought some dates for home ( the parents love to eat them things)- same type medjool a small tupper ware size container for 6.50. BUt they were dry. I would suggest getting dates and putting almonds in them! It'll be a smash hit at the sale. If i make it down to the 'indian' stores I'll check the price per pound..but you see they leave the dates out and they are exposed to the elements..that makes me quesy.... -peace n love |
