| [slm] kathy, the O level is the equivalent to a college pre-entrance exam. there are more tests required usually to finish requirements for the GCE (or General Certificate of Education) which qualifies the student to apply for university. the standard british system (also run by the british council outside the UK) has these standardized exams in the final years of secondary schooling. one of the stages of the exam is called the O level exam- short for ordinary level. this is the equivalent of grade 11. the other stage of the exam is called the A level exam - short for advanced level. this would be grade 12 in north america. O level and A level exams are big deal because the subjects are really intensive and tougher than N. american standards. hope this explains things. take care wassalam Mona |

| MashAllah! mabrook sis Halima......those really are amazing grades! i myself gave the GCE O Level exams in 2000, so i know exactly what ure son went through.....alhumdulillah , only by the grace of Allah i did very well too....those exams really are stressful and challenging esp for kids who r just 16-17. I'll say this , if ure son decides to not go for A Levels and join an American University instead, he will do really well, because like Mona said N. American standards aren't this intensive from the beginning. Im saying this from personal experience ;) Mabrook again.......ure son deserves a huge treat! |

| ..woww thats soo cool result mashAllah ..i gave three papers of o level rthis year and i just got Urdu A islmis studies B and Pakstudies D.....yeah ..i know D ..its terrible .. :( but inshAllah i have to give the rest of teh 5 subjects papers next year and inshAllah i'll get better grades in them ..inshALlah ..im in need of duas plz |
