This issue is a bit bizzare. I dont understand why niqabi sisters refuse to show their faces on ID passports. ID passports are an important security measure, if its part of the law of the land that you must have ID photo's for certain things like passports, bus passes etc, than you should allow your photo to be placed on the pass. You dont have to hang it around you for everyone to see, but the bus driver should have the right to know that the person on the pass is the person getting onto the bus, or other security such as at airports, airport staff should have the right to see that the person getting onto the plane is the one in the picture, and wearing the niqab on the pics makes this near impossible as it could be anyones eyes.

Where actually in islaam does it state a woman MUST NOT show her face?

The point of photo's on the passport is so they can recognise your face. So a photo with the face covered won't serve the purpose. Even Saudi Arabi won't let you in if they can't see your face on the passport.

perhaps they were being sensitive b/c of the times sis? who knows...but I dont think this is niqabi hate...just makes one think about the purposes of an ID to identify via picture as well as other points such as date of birth etc... if you were to use this ID for travelling lets say where you need photo identification-then wouldnt you need an ID that shows your face? just a comment..no offense meant.

but considering all people see of you are ur eyes and such then I guess that's what identifies you anyhow:)  interesting concept...but makes sense.

"obviously niqabi-hate is still an issue."

lol, no need to get so defensive. Its not about Nikabi hate, its about nikabi's being extremely selfish expecting everyone to change their laws and security policies to suit them.

A photo is one of the best and quickest ways to identify someone, and if your ID requires it, you should show your face on it, after all, islaam does not ban a woman from showing her face.

The Niqabi's need to chill out a bit, the world doesnt revolve around them.

SIS????!!!!! I'm 100% a man! I'm sure my wife will confirm this for you guys  :)

"but if you are so envious of niqabis"

I'm certainly not envious. I admire them most of the time for having the courage to wear the nikab in the west, however i dont think they should hide their faces on ID photo's as this is a valid peice security and they should not be allowed to bypass this on grounds of religious discrimination.

I apologise if i have caused offense, but the security issue of ID with pics is an important one.

I wonder if they will make me get another one later like when they change their mind or something.[/quote]

I'm wondering the same thing!  Can you keep us updated on whether or not the state government "re-visits" the issue of your license photo?

al ajnabia...

i think resistence is talking about the niqabis who DO go out and make a big deal out of it.. i dont think hes targeting u...becuase u have allready indicated that u do show ur face if it is required.... but hes just talking abt those who dont... cuase there are niqabis who wont show thier face when asked and still expect to recieve for ex...a drivers license.. such as the niqabi in florida...it was a big thing...and there was a thread about it here somewhere.... the state decided not to give her the license because she would not remove her niqab for the photo...  (i think this was the last ruling... i didnt follow up to it)

anyway in all fairness... niqab is pretty... hijab is pretty... and hair is pretty.. :)
