[slm] Can anyone help me with this? I need to know, from a grammar point of view (yeah, Arabic grammar not my strength, may Allah help me to improve inshaAllah)... Is this a Duaa? As in asking Allah for the following? Or is it more of a *pledge*, which of course is a totally different scenario altogether... اللهم ايمانا بك و تصديقا بكتابك و وفآء بعهدك واتباعا لسنة نبيك محمد s.a.w.s The way I understand this, it is a *pledge*, meaning "Oh Allah I *pledge* to have faith in You, firm conviction in Your revealed Books (Quraan), to fulfil the vows I made to You, and to follow the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad s.a.w.s" I do not feel confortable *pledging*, but would *love* to make this Duaa, for Allah to *help* me to stand by the following. Or am I just reading this wrong? Anyone help pls? Jazakum Allah Shahida :-) |

[slm] Shahida my arabic grammer can *not* be better than yours :P but just an idea I had...can't you add "Allahuma inni As'aluka Imaanan bika..." or "Allahumma A3inni bi Imaanan Bika..." Does that make sense? So you are in essence asking for it, rather than pledging (although I am still not sure whether the one below is a pledge or duah). okay, kheir Inshaallah, its a nice duah though :) [wlm] |

[wlm] I think it is more like you saying "Oh Allah out of my belief in You, firm conviction in Your revealed Books (Quraan), in fulfilment of the vows I made to You, and out of following the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad s.a.w.s" AND afterwards it you need to finish the sentence ex. That I do this act. Usually I think it is said when a marriage contract or business contract is being written. Not 100% sure though. |

[slm] JazakumAllahu khairun my dear sisters :) Nur-al-Layl: It makes sense to me to add that in front...I was thinking along the same lines, thanks:) Amatullah: Sis:) I read this in a book on Hajj and Umrah. This is like the FIRST thing that they recommend you say in the Tawaaf. :-* Thanks Salam Shahida :-) |
