Respect for the workers

Having just started my second week at work, and being rushed off my feet, I have to say I have soooo much respect for those of you who work long hours and still manage to keep up with the board - how do you do it???

I was wondering if we could start a thread where people post stuff about a typical day at work/home (this includes house-wives etc 'cos that's mad work too :o )
What do you guys think? Who'll start?

subhaanallaah I was thinking the same thing!

today was my second day at work [I'm working again after a longish hiatus] and suddenly people who work and raise families and contribute to the community and study the deen simultaneously have gone up inestimably in my eyes...i just want to repeat the question ...how do people do it??

:D

that's what i do ;)
alhamdulillah my job is internet related!!

btw attia working sux... long hours sux... working in a job u hate sux... i think it usually takes a while to get used to it.. maybe a year or so but then after that it just becomes a routine and you can work other things into your life around work...like fitting islamic classes in the evening , socializing on the weekends, etc

i think tho that everyone should make a plan on where they're going.. like education wise/job wise etc and it should be something they like to do!!

the worse thing in life is working at a dead end/ low paying job.. believe me i know ;)

asalaam alaykum wa rahmatullahi,

my cousin had to pay her way through school so she ended up working full time AND taking at least 15-18 credits a semester during the evening and still managed to graduate with honors...she did that for about 2 years. Now THAT is beyond me...  ???

that's what i do also....i think there's a pattern emerging  ;)
i just include it as research for my job...and very valuable information it is too  :D

But when you don't have job satisfaction....man, that hurts!  I've been going through a difficult time in this regard over the summer, where i really wanted to quit...there are so many other things i want to do that i think would be more fulfilling (but unfortunately they don't pay the bills  :()  So i'm hoping that my patience will make the days grow longer so i have more to time to fit in *a lot* of extra activities  :D

"keep the board minimized on your computer screens at work..hehe"

I think thats what a few members probably do as many work in office type environments or post from school/college/uni.

I work long hours, sitting at my desk eating the odd doughnut and drinking cola, whilst typing away.....not really much of an effort!  :-[

Ah ha! I knew not having my own desk at work meant that I was missing out :P

Yeah Jannah, long hours suck - but what sucks even worse is when you finish at a normal hour like 5.30pm - but don't get home till like 7pm :(  I thought I'd hate my job, I didn't want to like it but I'm actually enjoying most of it so far.

I'm just waiting for my own desk at work, so that I can keep jannah minimised on my desktop :-[
