| [slm] I just called our local Museum, which has a planetarium. The director is able to customize their show to accomadate us and present a 'Ramadan' show! I gave them the basics of moonsighting, Islamic requirements, a bit of Ramadan facts. Insha Allah, I will add to the list of topics, other than the moon facts~ Muslim astonomers and ask them to take out the horoscope/astrology/gods part. What else do you think we should include? Surprisingly it is only going to cost about $120 for a special, us only show! |

| [wlm] That sounds so cool.. let me advertise it up here too.. maybe some parents will take their kids for a roadtrip........if u got a scientificy person in the community maybe they can come and talk about arab/muslim roots of science in astronomy |

| [wlm] MashaAllah! That is really nice! You may want to include how to tell the qibla from the stars and sun. I remember going to an Omnimax (that's what we call it in Singapore) several years ago, where they showed about the universe. They started from a droplet of water and the microcosms, invisible to our naked eyes, and then expanded out to the life in this world visible to our naked eyes, then, expanded out to space and beyond. SubhanAllah the imagery was just amazing- on that day.. it is as if I could imagine how GREAT Allah is - and yet realise, I've yet to reach that true knowledge of how great He truly is. Allahua'lam |
