Questions on islam?

sorry i am not too familar with muslim religion, but from my understanding yes
muslim came from the line of abraham. it seems from the bible that they know god as a a
role of self effort, ie to obtain a blessing from God you must sacrifice to God. is that
true thjat you must serve inorder to get blessings?

but according to the bible abram had 2 sons. god promised him a son when he had none at
age 75years old. he did not trust that God will produce a son sopernaturally, so at the
advice of his wife sarah, he slept with sarai's maid hagar (egyptian) and produced an
offspring called ishmael(gen 16:15) to help God along with his promise.(gen 16: 2-4). so
ishmael came out of human effort( ie not believing in God's promise)

later abram started trusting in God (ie had faith ) and God changed his name from abram
to abraham (gen 17:5) as now Abraham was able to believe in God and so receive God's
grace. similarly sarai name was changed to sarah.

hence at aged 99 God fulfilled his promise and sarah conceived when she was barren(i
think at about 90  but not too sure). and this was the promised child issac. abraham was 100
years when issac was born(gen 21:5) ie it was supernatural conception as sarah had been
barren along.

however ishmael scoffed at issac (gen 21:9) so sarah asked abraham to take away ishmael.
and god agreed with abraham. (gen 21:12).

hagar and ischmael rode off to the dessert of beersheba (gen21:14) God heard ischmael's
voice and God promised that he will make ischmael descendents a great nation. (gen 21:17).

God also blessed ischmael even though it was not part of his plan for abraham. God is a
god of love. even when we make make mistakes we are forgiven (as jesus has paid all debts)
and we can always come to God. god's way is that his love changes us to love him.

from my understanding the descendents of ischmael are the muslims so if that is true then
the muslim pray to the same God but i am really not sure. all i know is that god loves
all of us more than he loved his own son, jesus that he would sent his son to die  for us
and in doing so take all the curses of the law away from us, so that anyone who believes
in what his son did will have everlasting life.

these people represent the spiritual people today. abraham represent the people that
trust in the lord for everything because they know god will never short change them no matter
what.

Uhm .. no
A lot of what you had written is ... at least, not Islamically, correct.

We believe that the prophet Abraham was a pious and righteous man, and never once did he doubt the Grace and truth of Allah ( God). That is demonstrated in many situations Allah put Abraham in to test his faith, and he passede every time. May the Peace and Blessings of Allah be Upon him.

Unlike Christianity, we do not believe that the Prophets were adulterors. True, Prophet Abraham wanted a son, and, not managing to have one via Sarah, he MARRied Hagar, the servant (not just slept with her O.o) and had Ismael.

Later, He had a son from Sarah as well (Isaac).

One of the *tests* Allah set for Abraham was to take Hagar and his newborn Ismael to the desert ( Makka) and leave them there .. this was to test Abraham's trust in Allah. (Abraham spent a Long time with no children and desperately wanted children .. so it was not according to his own whim or Sarah's did he take Hagar and Ismael to the desert).  He trusted completely in Allah, and that He will take care and provide for his family, ANd bless it and his descendants who turned to God for guidance.

Abraham's righteousness and trust in God was demonstrated from the very beginning when Abraham broke the idols idolated by his origional people and father, and underwent many other tasks that proved his sincerity to Allah.

I'm not sure whether Christians believe that Abraham was a prophet also, and if you do ... Do you believe he was sent down with the same message that Noah, Joseph and Moses ( to select a few) ? Do you agree that they all came down ith the same message? and that they were all there beFOre Jesus Christ?  It makes no sense for God to change his message when the Great Prophet Jesus (Peace be Upon him) was sent.

And yeah, we pray to the same God. Only, the Christians have declared Jesus a God too, which we do not believe. at all.

Yes Asia, Christians regard Abraham as a prophet.
ie it was supernatural conception as sarah had been
barren along.
? What teachings taught you this? It is news to me. Are you saying it was the same way Mary was conceived with Jesus peace be upon him?
God also blessed ischmael even though it was not part of his plan for abraham.
I didn't understand this sentence.

I think ( wallaho aalam) That he meant it was a miraculous birth since Sarah was sterile, and when Allah DID bless her with Isaac, she was supposed to be ( in human terms) too old to conceive ( being round abouts .. 90 years old)
At least I think thats what he meant.

And I also wanted to comment on that sentence you quoted Kathy. Abraham prayed for his son Ismael and asked Allah to bless him and all his descendants thereof ..
So that line came as a surprise to me o.o
