The web is a powerful place to do dawa. Sometimes I wish sites would not be so encompassing. For example, I had to send a quick read web site about Ramadan to the planetarium people. I ended up choosing the Beliefnet site because i could not find a two or three paragraph description on Islamic sites.

Some of the problems I see are:
Too much usage of arabic terminolgy... like saying salat instead of prayer.
Too much verifying facts with the Qur'an. Shoot, they have no reason, initially, to accept facts from a 'book' they do not know.
Not enough emphasis on Prophet Muhammad's saw tender ways. Remember, most Christians are into the whole aspect of Jesus as and Love.

I think many people want to Google to get info about Islam. Go ahead try some of the key words: Allah, Muhammad, Fasting, Jihad, etc.. imagine being a newbie....
See? Too hard to come up with just the facts!

The web should be used as a tool , with a strong emphasis on dialog with a real live Muslim. There are just too many sites with wrong info. How does the newbie know? The other day i went to send some info, from a web site, for some reason I hit properties and found it to be a undesireable site. No indication on the web page.

On the other hand, since so much culture has tied into Islam, the web will also offer other view points. I can't imagine what my Muslimness would be like today, if I only had my community to base my knowledge on. (Kudu's to jannah the moderators and the posters.... May Allah swt reward all of you )

Unfortunately is this hurry up world, it is too easy to suggest a person interested in Islam, to point them to a web site, instead of sitting down with them. Even I am guilty of that.

My feeling in dawa is to hit the top three... Allah swt , Prayers and Charity. Few Websites go into a great detail of tawheed, attributes, ect...

Another problem I encountered was prayer. Many of us do not have high speed computers and watching a video on prayer is almost impossible. I want a really detailed site on the performance prayers. From the beginning of the adthan of Fajr to the salaams of Isha.  With a pdf to down load, so they can do it all on their own. Most sites have it by rakat and it is too confusing in the beginning, to figure out how many, when where does that tashaud go... etc.

I would also like to see dawah on the net directed to Muslims. So many of us have no clue on the pitfalls of doing dawah. Mistakes made when speaking to audiences.
Also wouldn't it be great if we knew we had to give a speach and like term papers, could go to a site and down load a speech? Then we could adjust it, if needed?

Dawah and Children. Another area not explored. the web doesn't seem to have sites for giving dawah to children, ie my puppet shows in the public school room. Right now Iam working on a diversity show using pupptes. i am sure someone has done it before me. Wouldn't it be great if i could go and down load a play?

I know your question was for input and i just gave you food for thought. Sorry, I got carried away...
